My Bronco, MOMBASA, has had several lives. The attached photo shows my attempt to paint MOMBASA in Zolatone paint to look like a granite rock, then paint authentic indian pictographs on the “granite”. Neat idea, but it didn’t work for two reasons.
1. The painter used too high a pressure and the Zolatone didn’t have a rough granite-like texture. It was more like a primer.
2. Zolatone is porous and moisture gets through. Rust became a constant problem.
It could have worked well with a moisture-proof primer and proper application, but instead we went back to standard paint.
Now I’m interested in the dipyourcar rubber coating. Anyone ever use it?
Oh, and this photo is MOMBASA stuck hard in a Sonora MX tidal basin. Another of my “Hey! Watch this!!” moves.
