What’s New in EBR land?
The plan for the new Bronco is now known!
What is believed to be the most anticipated SUV, the reincarnated Bronco will be co-developed together with the next-generation Ranger which is practically the base for Ford Bronco. A lot has been talked and speculated on this topic, but the latest slip from a US union official gave us confirmation that the Bronco, which hasn’t been produced for 20 years, will see the light of day again.
Thanks to some sources of the motoring.com.au, they informed us that Ford’s Victorian-based Asia-Pacific Product Development Center is currently knee deep into Bronco development which is supposed to be new-generation Jeep Wrangler’s direct competitor. Ford’s Aussie based design and engineering operation are also the origin ground of the new T6 ladder platform that carries Ford’s global Ranger. The T6 platform also underpins the Everest SUV, and this is important to know because a certain number of the heavily camouflaged Ranger and Everest vehicles are already testing in the company’s You Yang proving ground at Lara near Geelong (Vic). Most of these testing mules are just early engineering prototype versions of the next-generation Ranger, but the rest is used as early all-new Bronco mules. The reincarnated Bronco is supposed to follow Ranger into production in the USA around 2020, and both vehicles will be based on a refined version of the current Ranger/Everest T6 platform.
Fabulous Fords Forever was a GREAT success
As expected, over 1800 Fords of all years and models, and 140 Broncos, gathered in the parking lot a Knott’s Berry Farm on Sunday April 17, 2016, when Ford featured the Bronco for it’s 50th Birthday. Were you there?
Bronco 50th Anniversary
It’s all done, and it was great! If you were there, you also know the 50th was our Swan Song. We will not be putting on any future major Bronco events with raffles, etc. Anything we do will be low key and mostly social. It’s been a great run doing this since the 20th Bronco Anniversary. We will keep 1,000’s of fond memories from all the events. Over now to other Bronco groups to keep the magic going as our Bronco’s continue to grow in value.
Our monthly meetings
NOTE: Ignore the following statement for August, September and October. During these months we will hold our meetings along with other events. See the calendar for details. In November, this schedule should resume. (If you live in the San Diego area, we meet the first Sunday of each month at 5:00 PM unless there are holidays in the way. Check the calendar for details and join us if you can. If you own or are interested in the Ford Early Bronco, join us. Meetings are free except for the food you order.)
A new (free) off-road mapping Application for you to try.
TrailConnect Off-Road GPS is is a free off-road GPS Mapping/Tracking app designed by off-roaders for off-roaders. Check it out and let us know what you think! An Android version should be in the works soon, but for your iOS using members it is a great free tool.
[If any of you use this app, please post your comments in the Forum section of this web site!]
Is there a 2017 Bronco in your future?
If you like the looks of this concept as a future Bronco, there were bubbling rumors about building this on a South America Ford platform, but there is certainly NO 2016 Bronco. However there is more creditable recent news about a 2020 Bronco, perhaps based on the Ranger mid-size truck platform. This could be the real deal for a replacement of the Early version of the Ford Bronco! Click here to read this story.

So, I am already registered for Bronco Daze, but haven’t received a confirmation. I now also need to add a shirt and meal ticket for my step son. How do I do that? Thanks! See you all in the dirt!
SteveS
Everyone that successfully completed a Bronco Daze registration was immediately sent a confirmation email. Please check your inbox, or perhaps your junk mail folder, on the date you registered. If you don’t find a confirmation, send us your name to EarlyBroncoRegistry@gmail.com. We will search for it and let you know if you are registered or need to start over.
Extra shirts can be ordered online for the rest of October. For extra meals, email us at the same address as above for arrangements.

had a great time wheeling with everyone,, fun times.. only complaint is we got back a little late like 6 and the dinner was already over, we thought we had till 630??
SteveS
So sorry you missed our dinner. I don’t know when the catering staff packed up, but I did see that the line had disappeared about 6 and we didn’t know anyone was still out. The formal runs were all back.
Lesson learned for next Bronco Daze. We will have to either have a phone number for folks to call if running late, or assure the dinner staff stands by until the last minute regardless. Thanks for letting us know!!

great event again, thanks EBL! had a guy on our easy run suggest using different ham radio simplex settings for individual runs and another simplex channel to use on dual band radios to talk between runs like his group does. he said there are several settings that can be used within simplex. those of us who know everyone are fine with how it is and like to hear the other runs. he suggested it because it was confusing hearing things and not knowing that it was from another run until he figured it out. I don’t think we need to change, but it’s something to consider.
SteveS
Bruce. Yes, worth a discussion. We set up one frequency specifically so we could track everyone. That still works well for the run managers. When we invite guests as well to use the frequency, and we do, I can see how that gets confusing.
I wonder how many 2 meter equipped hams we have out of the 70+ that register. Perhaps ten or so?

Can anyone help us find the good Bronco Daze samaritan with a licence “BRONCO T”? Read below:
“I was in Borrego Springs while you guys were there and got a POS rental van stuck in the sand. One of your members pulled me out, but I forgot his name. He’s from San Diego and had a purple Bronco with license # Bronco T. Do you know who it was? I make things for a living (all kinds of things) and wanted to send something to him for helping. I could send it to you and you could relay it maybe if you’re not supposed to give out that kind of info.”

I just logged on this web site today, and found your plea, and yes I have the dubious distinction of pulling your Offroad Van out of trouble by those evil Iron Dinosaurs. I believe in the pay-it-forward mentality, and am glad you made it out OK.
Glad you made in home OK.
BTW.. how did your wife do in the bike ride?

Dale
I hear you have Broncos park at your place for a monthly event. What are the details?
Steve
Dan
Thanks for all of the work that you folks put in to making Bronco Daze a great event!
Bruce
I’ve registered for Bronco Daze (my first) and am looking for an event calendar of activities. I cannot be there for all the days but would like to know what’s going on so I can plan accordingly. Thanks Bruce
SteveS
In general, Wednesday is your arrive day and Sunday your depart day. Runs won’t be finalized until almost event time, depending on weather, trail conditions, etc. However runs begin Thursday and continue through Saturday afternoon. We need everyone back in camp by 5 PM or so Saturday for the catered dinner and big raffle.
Bigg Country
If we can’t have open flame fires how would you suggest we cook our food? First time going so I don’t want to get in trouble or anyone else for that matter. I cook with charcoal and use my home made wheel bbq and I would love to use it that week.
Thanks
SteveS
Per the Snow Summit folks we are leasing the land from, Forest Service rules anyplace in the San Bernardino Mtn’s prohibit open flames. I can ask them specifically if that includes BBQ’s, but since an open flame is required to get things going, I suspect so. Fires in that area get deadly fast.
Bigg Country
Understand. I would like to know so that I could plan my trip to big bear in july.
Thanks Steve
